Don’t fret, we have the perfect list to direct you where to go when in Nevada.
Places That Are a “MUST SEE” When Taking a Charter Bus Through Nevada
Austin, NV
This town might be named Austin but it’s got nothing to do with Texas. Austin, Nevada was founded in 1862 during a silver rush. The city looks stuck in time and still harbors a lot of its originally Wild West doppelganger buildings. What brings the most appeal to this town is its ghost town appearance which is in part to the population being a slim 101 as of 2020, with a population so small you can bet they’re a tight-knit community and they’re known for being nice too! Play cowboy or girl for a day and meet some friendly Austinians.
Rachel, NV
If your name is Sandy, this town could have been named after you, and that’s not for any other reason other than the town’s long expansive amount of sand. The name they ended up going with, Rachel, however, has a bit of meaning. The city of Rachel is the youngest in the state of Nevada and so because of this, they named it after the town’s first child born in the area, Rachel Jones. Speaking of the world, the town of Rachel is known for things that are more known to be outside of it. Let’s say UFOs. Rachel’s Highway 375 has been rumored to showcase occasional UFO sightings. The city of Rachel even plays into this with its Alien Research Center. Aliens aren’t the only thing to see here, Rachel has a beautiful landscape and plenty of room for you and your crew to explore, so get extra! Terrestrial that is, and head to Rachel.
Eureka, NV
Eureka is right off of Highway 50, which is notably the most lonely highway because of its distance across the width of Nevada. The population of Eureka is about 1,050 which makes it a fairly quiet town, some might even refer to it as Eureka, well actually all do because of its name but we mean it in the serene sense for the quiet, fresh air and mountainside views. When it comes to things to do in the town of Eureka, there are a few options; there’s a Sentinel Museum, an opera house, and a market. This town is proof that not a lot is just enough. Go and see Eureka’s history and enjoy the town’s offerings with your Nevada charter bus.
Alamo, NV
This city is brought to you by things that are just a little weirder. Alamo has a desert vibe and sits at an elevation of 3,449ft, with yet another low population, which is perfect for your Nevada charter bus to space out with no pun intended. Going with the recurring theme, Alamo, Nevada also has roots in alien sightings and has a diner themed after it called “Little A’li Inn” which is both adorable and delicious. In between this town and the previous town of Rachel is a black mailbox. We know what you are thinking, ok, what’s so special about a mailbox? While we’re not certain the exactness of what makes it special, it’s a popular spot for alien enthusiasts. The mailbox does have a human owner though, and due to the unbounded amounts of stolen mail and even gunshots at the owner Steve Medlins mailbox, he eventually put up a miniature mailbox marked as “alien”. Other cool things to see in Alamo include Tikaboo Peak where you can peekaboo at Area 51 and Ryanhedge, which has a Stonehenge inspired by the solar calendar. Visit the spot where aliens meet the desert.
Tonopah, NV
This town started similarly to other desert towns, with the prospect of silver mines and a man who wanted to find them. It began when Jim Butler spent a night in the area and followed his mule that had wandered away to what later became a source of silver. Although the mule never got a raise, after a few goes of getting an assayer to give the silver its credibility, in 1901, Jim’s town produced around $750,000 in gold and silver. Today, the gold & silver rush has cooled down but the city is left with its western charm. Popular sites to see include the old cemetery, a clown motel, and the Tonopah brewing company. Let this desert oasis ignite you and your Nevada charter bus to wonder.
If this list does not seal the deal for you and your Nevada charter bus crew, just read it again, because there’s no way! Nevada has enough history and western charm to knock anyone’s socks off.
